I realized it is only by the saving grace of Jesus and renewing one’s life to His ways, that one can escape the world of selfishness and enter into the Christian life of selflessness. Adult water baptism is for a Christian to go under the water and die to their old self and selfish ways, and rise up out of the water to live 100% for Jesus and His plan for their life!
